Blake Bevan

Pedorthist & Co Owner
B.P.E, C.Ped Tech, C.Ped C.
Blake has spent 30 years helping people move better. He graduated from UBC, where he also played varsity volleyball. Following his time as a varsity player, he continued his involvement in the sport by coaching at Douglas College for a number of years.

After completing his formative pedorthic training in the Lower Mainland, Blake became a Certified Pedorthic Technician in 1997 and earned his designation as a Canadian Certified Pedorthist in 2000. In 2005, he and his wife, Christy, opened Progressive Step with the goal of creating a clinic that blends strong clinical education with a personal, community-focused approach.

Blake remains deeply involved in shaping the pedorthic profession. He serves as an exam proctor and Ethics Committee member with the Canadian College of Pedorthics, and over the years, he has trained over half a dozen pedorthists. He has presented at national conferences, co-chaired an annual conference, and regularly provides educational talks for allied health professionals and community groups. Blake also makes a point of attending conferences across Canada and North America to stay current with emerging research and biomechanical theory.

Throughout his career, Blake has worked with nearly every type of client: professional athletes, marathoners, weekend warriors, growing kids, individuals with chronic disease or disability, and anyone simply looking to walk more comfortably. His assessment style is rooted in education, helping people understand their movement patterns, while keeping things approachable and even a little fun.

Outside the clinic, Blake loves walking with his dogs, pedaling away on his Peloton bike, and attempting, with mixed success, to play guitar. He proudly calls himself a foot, shoe, and movement nerd, and he brings that enthusiasm into client interactions.

Christy

CEO & Co-Owner
Christy’s career began at BC Children’s Hospital, where she worked as a Respiratory Therapist. She has always been drawn to the privilege of caring for people, so when the chance came to return to her hometown and help Blake open a pedorthic clinic, she jumped in with both feet. Her background in acute pediatric care shaped her natural ability to stay calm, empathetic, and focused on what people need most, skills that continue to guide her work today.

For the past 20 years, Christy has been immersed in every aspect of Progressive Step, from day-to-day operations to creating a warm, welcoming experience for every client who walks through the door. She is passionate about service, community connection, and building a clinic environment that feels supportive, reliable, and tailored to each individual’s needs.

Now entering a new stage of life as an empty-nester after raising five children, Christy brings renewed energy and vision to the clinic. She is committed to making Progressive Step the most trusted pedorthic clinic in Kamloops.

Outside of work, Christy challenges herself to stay active on her Peloton and enjoys walking with her two dogs, Kenzie and Zvia. In her spare time, she loves to travel locally and find all the beautiful nooks and crannies of our beautiful country. As well, giving back to her community is something she values deeply, whether that means serving on a council, leading a class, or simply showing up where she’s needed. Christy’s warmth, leadership, and genuine care for others are at the heart of everything she does, both inside and outside the clinic.

Jenna

Future Canadian Certified Pedorthist
Jenna has been part of Progressive Step for over ten years, slowly growing from helping around the clinic to discovering that pedorthics was the career she wanted to pursue. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Health and Exercise Sciences with a concentration in Kinesiology and Allied Health at UBC Okanagan, where she will graduate in April 2026. During her degree, she completed a community practicum in the allied health field in Kelowna, which helped confirm how much she enjoys working directly with people and supporting their movement and overall well-being.

In the fall of 2026, Jenna will begin the Diploma in Pedorthics program at Western University. She will continue working at Progressive Step while completing her schooling, gaining experience as she moves through the program. Her plan is to finish her program in September 2027 and step fully into a pedorthist role at the clinic. She is genuinely excited to help guide Progressive Step into its next generation of care in Kamloops.

Jenna has a strong interest in helping people move comfortably and stay involved in the activities they love. She believes our feet are the pillars of our daily movement, and she enjoys blending her academic background with practical tools like health behaviour change to support clients in ways that feel realistic and sustainable.

Outside of school and work, Jenna loves spending time outdoors hiking, camping, swimming, and trying to master stand-up paddleboarding, which are some of her favourite ways to recharge, even if the standing part of paddleboarding is still a work in progress.
